Reproductive Health Care and Advocacy Fellowship

One-year intensive clinical fellowship training family physicians to provide, teach, and advocate for reproductive health care including abortion. Sites in MA, MI, NJ, NY, and WA. Open to board-certified or board-eligible family physicians.

The Reproductive Health Care and Advocacy Fellowship (RHAP), launched in 2007 by the Reproductive Health Access Project, is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 cycle. This competitive, one-year intensive clinical training program develops a diverse community of family medicine leaders who will provide, teach, and advocate for equitable, person-centered reproductive health care, especially within primary care settings.


Fellowship sites are located in Boston MA, Ann Arbor MI, New Brunswick NJ, New York NY, and Seattle WA. Up to 8 fellows are selected per year.


What Fellows Do:

Fellows spend one year as a trainer-in-training, learning to perform reproductive health procedures including abortion (up to 14-16 weeks), IUD/implant insertion and removal, medication abortion, and management of early pregnancy loss. Fellows also develop teaching skills, lead advocacy projects, participate in the Reproductive Health Access Network, and integrate a reproductive and racial justice lens into their clinical and leadership work.


Eligibility:

Applicants must be board-certified or board-eligible family physicians who will have completed residency training in the United States by July 1, 2027. Both recent graduates and mid-career physicians are eligible. No prior abortion training experience is required.

  • - Three letters of recommendation (emailed to fellowship@reproductiveaccess.org)

All travel and program costs are fully covered by RHAP. Fellows maintain academic appointments and receive mentorship, leadership training, and connection to a national network of reproductive health clinicians.
