The Association of State Public Health Nutritionists (ASPHN) is accepting applications for its Fall 2026 Fellowship Program for Public Health Practice, a 12-week paid fellowship that places students in federal, regional, state, and local health agencies to complete real-world public health projects. Created to broaden and diversify the public health and health-related workforce, the program has trained more than 2,200 students and preceptors since 2002. Fellows work up to 20 hours per week (about 240 hours total) on projects spanning obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, nutrition, mental health, HIV, cancer, health policy, program planning, and injury and violence prevention. Undergraduate and graduate fellows receive a $3,000 scholarship, plus mentoring, professional-development webinars, conference access, and support applying to master's and doctoral programs. Eligibility: currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing at a U.S. institution of higher education; international students at U.S. institutions may apply with a student visa. Placements may be in-person or remote and are each supervised by an ASPHN staff member plus a day-to-day preceptor. Application deadline: June 30, 2026; selected fellows are notified by August 1, 2026. Apply through the ASPHN application portal. Relevance to Evolve's focus areas: public-health workforce diversification (Diversity & Inclusion), obesity, and nutrition for maternal and child health.
