Applications are open for the MASS African Design Centre (ADC) Fellowship 2026. The ADC Fellowship is a twelve-month hands-on residency in Kigali, Rwanda for nationals of an African country, designed to foster and incubate future African architects and designers by imparting essential tools, mentorship, and resources. Fellows develop culturally grounded, community-driven design solutions that address the continent’s significant infrastructure challenges while preserving and integrating Africa’s architectural heritage.

Through the fellowship, fellows engage with ongoing Model of Architecture Serving Society (MASS) initiatives and areas of work, including maternal and newborn health, expanding social and economic opportunity, climate-positive development, research, and community-led innovation. Fellows conduct culturally rooted design research, engage in community-based pilot projects, and publish reflective pieces on their findings.

Benefits: Paid fellowship with relocation to Kigali, Rwanda from October 2026 to September 2027; support from MASS program staff and assigned design/professional mentors.

Eligibility: Nationals of an African country, age 35 or below, with a degree in architecture, urban design, landscape, engineering, or a related built-environment field, and able to relocate to Kigali for the duration of the fellowship.

Deadline: June 14, 2026.
