PJ Morton named 2026 Grand Marshal of Black Music Month at NMAAM

On June 11, 2026, the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) in Nashville named Grammy Award-winning artist PJ Morton the 2026 Grand Marshal of Black Music Month, anchoring the museum's fifth-anniversary celebration. NMAAM Executive Director William Jeffries called the New Orleans-born six-time Grammy winner "a living embodiment of everything Black Music Month celebrates." Morton's landmark exhibition Saturday Night Sunday Morning will open on June 18 and remain on view through September 30. Black Music Month was established in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter to honor African American musical heritage.
