The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria invites abstracts for its Symposium on Climate Change and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) in Africa, taking place 12–13 November 2026 in Pretoria, South Africa. Developed in partnership with UNCF, the UNCF Lam Research Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships of $5,000 each to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full-time at any 4-year accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU), UNCF Member Institution, or Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Eligible applicants for this scholarship will:
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 on a 4.00 scale
Be majoring in Chemical/Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Physics
Be enrolled full-time at any 4-year accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU), UNCF Member Institution, or Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit via UNCF’s online scholarship application portal by June 30, 2026. All parts of the application must be completed and submitted by the deadline.
Applications must include a current unofficial academic transcript.
Applications must include a one-page essay regarding your career interests
Additional Scholarship Information
Scholars will be selected on the basis of academic performance, extracurriculars, and the content and quality of the essay.
An email confirmation will be sent to applicants who have submitted complete applications. If you do not receive this email, the application may have not been submitted correctly.
Final awards are announced by email within 10-12 weeks of the application close date. Please monitor the UNCF portal for updates to your application.
